Things to Do in Greenport for the Fourth of July

The Fourth of July is just around the corner, meaning it’s time to get your patriotic plans in order. Carnivals, Fireworks and Parades!

Head to the Polo Grounds on Moores Lane to celebrate the Fourth of July at the annual Greenport Fire Department Carnival. The lively carnival, open from July 2 through July 6, features games, rides, food, live music, holiday celebrations, and more. Be sure to stay for the spectacular fireworks display after the sun goes down on both July 4th and 6th. There is something fun for the entire family at this lovely annual event.

If watching fireworks in Greenport on the 4th isn’t enough, head east for the Orient Harbor Independence Day Fireworks display on July 6th at 9:15 p.m.

To get the family into the red, white and blue spirit, head west to Southold for the annual Southold Village Merchants Fourth of July Parade, which wends its way from Boisseau Avenue to Tuckers Lane on July 4th at noon.

Farmers’ Markets

Pick up some fresh local produce, artisanal goods, handmade items, and more at the Summer Market, held at the Icehouse in Greenport. Popping up on Fridays and Saturdays through October 2019, this local event is your one-stop shop for your favorite farmers’ market finds. Join the fun on Fridays from 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Wine Tasting

End the holiday weekend at a Greenport favorite: Kontokosta Winery, open seven days a week, Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Here you can sample noteworthy wines while learning about the process that leads to their perfection. Tours are offered (for groups of up to six people) on most Saturdays and Sundays, and include four tastings and a sample from the barrels in the winery’s cellar.
