Aromas of spice box, blackberry and toasty new oak. Flavors of red cherry, cassis and chocolate with hints of pepper. Full-bodied, strong and firm with a clean generous finish.
2013 was an excellent vintage on Long Island. The warm summer finished with a welcome bit of rain, followed by an exceptionally dry fall which provided much hang time for ripening.
Variety: 45% Cabernet Franc, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah, 10% Merlot
Hand-harvested: October 25th (Cabernet Franc); November 15th (Cabernet Sauvignon); October 10th (Syrah); October 19th (Merlot).
Winemaking: Average maceration of 24 days. Aged for 11 months in new French and Hungarian oak (medium-heavy toast).
